SRTP Online Curriculum
When representatives from the UCDAR Consortium met with Diamond Developers in Dubai in March of 2014, they discussed the value of an online sustainability curriculum.
Diamond Developers of Dubai (DD) understands that people need knowledge and skills if they are to maintain sustainable communities. In order to support a growing a cadre of residents and professionals to design and live sustainable lifestyles in the Middle East and Northern Africa, DD contracted with UC Continuing and Professional Education to develop the first of a series of online courses. The first course is on the topic of urban farming and has been used to train residents of The Sustainable City in Dubai.
UCDAR Consortium member universities have also launched an online sustainability program. The American University of Beirut has been awarded a grant from the European Union Tempus Programme to fund the development of a professional diploma program for green technologies in Lebanon and Egypt, entitled PRO-GREEN-Joint/Dual Professional Graduate Diploma and Professional Degree in Green Technologies. Lebanese American University and the American University of Cairo are participants in the degree program. The target beneficiaries of this project are university students and working professionals in fields related to engineering, architecture, science and information technology who want to further develop skills in the growing sector of green energy.
